How to Blend Gas with the PowerPod 400
Example of Gas Blending
Mixed gas with a total flow rate of 100 slm using 50% oxygen, 30% nitrogen, and 20% hydrogen
Assume that you create it and use PowerPod 400 as a master/slave method
I'll explain how to mix it with an example.
1. Product composition
First you need a Master Mass Flow Product and a Slave Mass Flow Controller.
Master Mass Flow can be used regardless of Meter / Controller,
Slave Mass Flow must use a Controller.
Therefore, if the master is installed as MFM, MFM - 1 and MFC - 3 are required.
If you use both master and slave as MFC, you need -4 MFCs.
One PowerPod 400 is the default configuration.
2. Select product flow
To make a mixed gas with a total flow rate of 100 slm, the master Mass Flow product
The total flow must be at least 100 slm.
In addition, the default setting is 50%, 30%, and 20%, but the ratio may change in the future.
The slave MFC must also be configured with at least 100 slm.
3. Master/Slave Product Settings
When the product is ready, load the master Mass Flow product and the slave MFCs.
Connect to PowerPods.
Before entering the settings, each product must be registered with the PowerPod.
The master mass flow product must be set to channel 1 unconditionally.
As described above, both Mass Flow Meter and Controller can be used.
To start from the main screen, press the 'MODE key' then press the '3 key',
Press 'ENTER key' to select SETUP / CAL.
To set channel 1 as master, press '1 key', 'ENTER key', '6 key' to enter RATIO,
Press 'ENTER key', '2 key' to enter ENABLE MASTER and press 'ENTER key'.
To specify which of the remaining channels will be the slave MFC
You need to set the slave state.
To use channel 2 as a slave, press '2 key' and 'ENTER key' or
Press '1 key' and 'ENTER key'.
Then, on the screen, SLAVE B is connected to channel 3 and SLAVE C is connected to channel 4 and
You will be prompted to connect.
If you press '3 key' and 'ENTER key' to exit this screen, PowerPod will
It will return to the main screen where the current master/slave setting information is updated.
During this setup process, press the 'ESC' key at any time to cancel the update and
You can return to the main screen of your PowerPod.
How to input master/slave product to PowerPod

4. Enter the set value
After selecting the master and slave MFC, you can input the set value for each channel.
If you press 'CHANNEL key' and 'specific numeric key' to enter the setting value,
The MFC set for a specific numeric channel is selected and displayed with an asterisk to the left of the displayed setpoint.
Enter the new setting value using the numeric keys (enter in decimal) and press the 'ENTER key'.
If the PowerPod and flow meter are actually connected to a gas flowing system,
It is best to start by checking for flow through the master.
If the master is an MFM, the operation must be done independently of the PowerPod and
If the master is MFC, press 'CHANNEL key', '1 key' and 'CLOSE key'
You can either command the master to close or set the setting to zero.
This makes it easy to zero the flow when setting up a slave MFC.
When the FS of the slave MFC is the same
Ra = Q2 / Q1 and
('Ra is flow value', 'Q2 = slave MFC flow value', 'Q1 = total flow')
Oxygen - 50 / 100 = 50 slm
Nitrogen - 30 / 100 = 30 slm
Hydrogen - 20 / 100 = 20 slm
Set as above.
When the setting values for each slave MFC are input to the PowerPod,
After that, when changing the master flow rate, each slave MFC
By changing the flow proportionally to the total flow, it becomes possible to maintain the ratio.
It will return to the main screen where the current master/slave setting information is updated.
During this setup process, press the 'ESC' key at any time to cancel the update and
You can return to the main screen of your PowerPod.
